Yield or Trust

Today I sail, my passions lead me on,
plunging into pounding waves.

A cluster of grim islands ahead lure me in,
black shadows of cliffs, narrow fiords,
an offspring of ice and unnerving seas.

I hear An Gèadh Fiadhaich warn me:

“Stay free, use the wind,
don’t yield to this riptide’s grip.

Don’t cede to these strong currents,
nor let passions beguile you.

Why rove near maelstroms
to be sucked down into futility?”

“Eyes on Me”, shouts An Gèadh Fiadhaich,
“Pull away now! Get the wind behind you.”

With grit I turn the helm, eyes on,
hold my tack with a stiff following wind.

The torrent’s grip strengthens,
fights like a marlin, then yields.
- with joy I sail free following An Gèadh Fiadhaich.
