Aotearoa Wilderness, Sanctuary

Broken Shells

Broken Shells

When gastropods and bivalves
are broken by the force of the sea,
ocean currents race and roil
drive the shells ashore.

There relentlessly tossed
by roaring breakers till the outgoing tide
leaves them behind broken upon sandy shores.
Shore birds come feed awhile.
