The Dew of Dhè
Between the tidal shore and ocean’s deep
lies ocean’s wonder— the edge of the sea,
where seals feed and kelp beds thrive—
all life bathed in the glory of Crìost.
She prayed to farewell to those turbulent shores
her tiredness did not make the waves rest:
Maddening waves from storms long past
whose memories hold more than she can bear.
In the fresh hours of one dawn she prayed
where ocean waves lap around rocks.
Wet with dew from dawn’s silent mist, she sat
watched a beautiful skein of wild geese wake.
On that winter’s morn the echo of prayer was not silent.
From a wing’s feather, Crìost took dew, anointed her head.
Crìost vivified her flesh by the Spirit’s breath.
she entered the water, immersed soul, mind and flesh.
A whiff of wind ruffles the sea, the geese stir,
she feels not the wind, but the Spirit’s tide.
The sea Crìost stilled, seals wait at her side
with wild geese aloft, her first voyage unveils.
